He is confident that planting Stoneville® cotton seed varieties across the majority of his 1,600 acres brings him the latest trait technologies in varieties with high yield potential, exceptional early season vigor and good lint quality.

“We’re counting on Stoneville because it is advancing the Roundup Ready Flex technology in its varieties,” Rice says. “From the results of our on-farm variety trial, we’re looking at the new varieties because of their yield performance.”

Tommy Rice of Tigrett, TNDespite a severe drought in 2007, ST 5327B2RF was the top-yielding variety at 954 lbs/A in Rice’s on-farm dryland trial. He says Stoneville varieties pick clean and are easier to manage throughout the season because the crop is more uniform, which he attributes to excellent early season vigor.

“When I evaluate all of the work cottonseed companies are
doing, the performance results of Stoneville varieties prove the brand is ahead
of everyone else,” Rice says.”
