Stand and Deliver Tour

Bootheel Grower Sets High Performance Expectations
Performance
expectations are high for Gerald Malin Jr. of Campbell, Mo. After great
success with ST 4554B2RF in 2006, he moved the majority of his irrigated
cotton acres to that same variety in 2007. That decision has paid off — he
has reported a yield average of more than 2.25 bales per acre. In preparation
for the future, Malin is also evaluating new cottonseed varieties on
his farm. He has taken notice of ST 4498B2RF after seeing the variety
performance in an on-farm trial this year.
“In the CAP test plot, the Stoneville varieties beat everything
with an average loan value of $.54,” Malin says. “We’re
staying with Stoneville from now on.”
Not
only did ST 4498B2RF claim the top position in his on-farm trial, but
he also notes that Stoneville® cotton seed fiber quality
looks good.
Malin says strong early season vigor sets the stage for the yield performance
Stoneville varieties deliver. In addition, he likes the earliness and
how easy the varieties are to manage throughout the season.
